Muscle cars are those cars that you see drag racing in old movies. There is no definite definition for a muscle car and many people have different opinions about what qualifies and what not. The basic idea of a muscle car is a 2-door car that is powered by a high-displacement engine. They are smaller cars with large engines, in other words.

1967 Pontiac GTO


Some people believe the era of muscle cars started in 1949 with the Oldsmobile Rocket 88. Others say the beginning was in 1964 with the GTO. We are going according to the latter.

1968 Plymouth Road Runner Hemi


This car was one to be feared when cruising past the Saturday night drag race crowd. Plymouth built a car that looked tough and was tough. This was one of the best from Plymouth.

This was a rare car as only 1 400 were built. This Mustang was the result of Ford trying to meet NASCAR requirements. This model may not be the best of the best, but it still makes our list.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1


This muscle car is considered one of the rarest production cars that Chevrolet ever made. It is also a rare car as only 70 were made. The ZL1 is an engine that is extremely powerful and the most powerful engine that Chevrolet has offered to the public.

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454


This is hands down one of the best muscle cars ever made and it beats out most of the cars on this list. There is no equal to the horsepower of the SS 454. This car was part of the last breaths of the muscle car era and it went out with a bang.
